Dear Steve

Think about this very carefully. Not only will engine need marinising to the appropriate elements in the boat already, but also we will need the gearbox, driveplate and bellhousing to be tailored to the engine output shaft, the drive coupling in the gearbox, using the gearbox off your old engine. There is also the issue of all the electrical connections, gauges and rev counter etc, which will be synchronized with the old engine.

Obviously it is doable, but there is time and cost to be considered. I understand that the engines may be cheap, but the cost implications may outweigh.

What is the situation with the old engine? There was someone locally who said they might take it on, although if your man says it is impossible to repair, then obviously we will have to go a different route (maybe oars??).

If you do get to the point of making a decision it would be useful to have all the details so that we can do a bit of research at the boat show on Friday.
